Michael Biggins - Piano Tutor

Michael is a freelance multi-instrumentalist, session musician and teacher originally from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne but now residing in Glasgow.  

 

A founding member of Glasgow based trad groups The Canny Band and TRIP, he has performed and toured extensively throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. Recent awards include MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ with The Canny Band and the ‘BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2021’ as a solo artist.  

 

Michael graduated with a BMus degree in piano performance from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Professor Sinae Lee. Prior to this, he studied at Chetham’s School of Music and Sage Gateshead’s young musicians programme. 

 

As well as performing, Michael also teaches piano, piano accordion and music theory in both classical and traditional styles.
