Amy Simpkin

Amy is a highly skilled pianist and musician who is passionate about making music exciting and accessible to people of all ages. With an ABRSM piano performance diploma (ARSM) and eight years of experience in piano tuition, Amy has honed her craft and developed a keen understanding of how to inspire and encourage her students. She is also completing her dipABRSM in piano teaching. Amy is also an award-winning composer, currently finishing her Bachelor of Music undergraduate degree in Composition with an endorsement in Music Education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and is due to graduate in early July.

Originally from Aberdeenshire, Amy grew up in a musical family, playing piano and violin as well as songwriting from a young age. Amy's dedication is evident in her work, and she commits to a multitude of roles as pianist, composer, songwriter and community workshop leader. Amy has had compositions performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Red Note Ensemble, and commissions from The Marion Consort, Live Music Now and Sound Festival in Aberdeen. She has worked closely with Sound Scotland providing music workshops for children in the North-East. She also leads worship at her local church and recently released a new single ‘I Will Be Still’.

In all of her compositions and performances, Amy strives to reach and move people, allowing them to make an emotional connection to her music. She has a wealth of teaching experience and her lessons are always based around what the pupil is interested in, whilst encouraging them and challenging them to push themselves out of their comfort zone.
