Ella Munro- Vocals, Piano & Music Theory Tutor

Ella is a piano, vocal, and music theory teacher based in Glasgow although originally from the Isle of Skye. Ella studied at the prestigious National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music from 2009 to 2014 during her formative years, where she learned voice, piano, clarsach and fiddle, before coming to Glasgow. She studied music and education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and graduated with a first class honours degree (voice and piano) in 2019 and was then employed as a secondary school music and music technology teacher before returning to university in 2021.

 

Ella regularly performs as a traditional and folk musician and has been a finalist for the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition in 2017 and again in 2024. Her band, the Ella Munro Band, have toured the UK and have an EP named ‘The Final Trawl’ on various streaming platforms that was released to great acclaim. Ella has also performed as part of the National Youth Choir of Scotland across the UK and further afield, including the USA.

 

She has been teaching piano, vocals and theory for 8 years and loves to combine her passion for all genres of music with education. Ella is a compassionate, empathic and determined teacher and uses a variety of techniques to support and encourage all of her pupils on their musical journey!
