Matas Scerbauskas discovered his passion for music at the age of 8, learning both the clarinet and piano at a local music school in Kaunas, Lithuania. By the time he was 15, his dedication to music led him to professional studies at a conservatoire in his hometown. Throughout this time, Matas competed in and won awards at music competitions in Lithuania, Austria, and Ukraine. In 2014, he was honored with a prestigious award from the President of Lithuania for his outstanding achievements as a music performer.

In 2015, Matas moved to Scotland to begin his undergraduate studies in clarinet performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). Under the guidance of esteemed clarinettists Yann Ghiro and John Cushing, he honed his skills and performed in many productions, including a solo debut with the RCS Wind Orchestra. He also collaborated with prominent ensembles such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Matas continued his education at RCS, earning a Master of Music Performance degree in 2021. During this time, he studied with internationally acclaimed clarinettists Maximiliano Martín and Nicolas Baldeyrou.

Today, Matas is an active performer and educator. He tours the UK as part of the Silver Keys clarinet quartet and performs internationally with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra. Based in Glasgow, Matas shares his love for music as a dedicated teacher, specialising in both clarinet and piano.
