MATT DONALDSON 
DRUMS

Matthew is an experienced and versatile drummer with a strong background in live performance, studio work, and music education. He began drumming at the age of 11 and quickly became active in church music and Glasgow’s local band scene. Over the years, he has performed extensively across the UK and Europe as a session drummer, gaining valuable touring and festival experience.

 

Mark studied at BIMM London, Matthew is currently furthering his studies in Commercial Music at the University of the West of Scotland. He is also a core member of Glasgow-based band Cruise Balloon and continues to play regularly in a church setting, maintaining a strong connection to live performance.

 

Matthew’s teaching approach is grounded in both technical development and musical expression. He specialises in applied rudiments, linear phrasing, and ghost note integration, helping students build a solid foundation while exploring creative possibilities on the drum kit. His stylistic knowledge includes gospel, pop, rock, Brazilian samba, and afrobeat — allowing him to tailor lessons to a wide range of interests and skill levels.
