Meet Patsy Gillam, a multi-talented musician based in Glasgow, who is the clarinet and saxophone tutor at Bishopbriggs School of Music. With an impressive range of experience in the music industry, Patsy is a highly sought-after tutor who is dedicated to helping her students achieve their full potential.

 

Patsy's musical journey began at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, where she studied clarinet, saxophone, music theory, and piano. Her hard work paid off as she achieved a grade 8 on the clarinet by the age of 12 and grade 8 on the saxophone at just 14 years old. Since then, Patsy has performed as part of an orchestra in some of the most prestigious venues in the UK, including the Colston Hall in Bristol, the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, and the Barbican in London, sharing the stage with celebrated musicians such as Nicola Benedetti and Wynton Marsalis.

 

In addition to her impressive orchestral experience, Patsy has also performed solo concerts at the Ulverston International Music Festival and the Kendal Calling Festival. Her talent and hard work also earned her the runner-up position in the Lions clarinet competition, where she performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto.

 

As a passionate music educator, Patsy has taught woodwind instruments and delivered masterclasses as part of a mentorship programme with Awards for Young Musician's. She has also taught clarinet, saxophone, and piano at the Dianne Mitchell Music School, Ulverston Victoria High School, and now at Bishopbriggs School of Music.

 

Currently, Patsy is furthering her education in music by studying for a BA(Hons) degree in Music and Sound at the Academy of Music and Sound, where she is in her final year.

 

Patsy's impressive musical background and extensive teaching experience make her an excellent choice for anyone looking to learn or improve their skills on the clarinet or saxophone. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to music education are evident in everything she does, making her a valuable asset to the Bishopbriggs School of Music team.
